Apps. iPad has ~1.5 million iPad-optimized apps. Procreate, Affinity Photo/Publisher/Designer, LumaFusion, Notability, GoodNotes 6, Arc browser, Xcode (Mac app running via iPad as second display with Sidecar) — these are all best-in-class. Android tablet app quality has improved since Google pushed large-screen layouts in Android 13+, but it still lags. Apps like Instagram and Snapchat remain phone-sized UI stretched to tablet — ugly. Windows tablet (Surface Pro) runs actual desktop apps: full Photoshop, Blender, Visual Studio. Not miniaturized.
Stylus. Apple Pencil Pro ($129) is best-in-class for drawing — tilt, pressure, barrel roll, squeeze, double-tap, haptic feedback, and find-my support. Samsung S Pen (included with Tab S10 series!) is very good for notes and OK for drawing. Microsoft Surface Slim Pen 2 ($129) is good for notes, middling for drawing. Android third-party styluses are mostly note-taking grade.
Keyboard. Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro M4 ($299–$349) is the best tablet keyboard — backlit, function row, trackpad with haptic click. Samsung Book Cover Keyboard for Tab S10 is good. Surface Pro Flex Keyboard with Slim Pen ($349) is the thinnest detachable keyboard and has the best trackpad on Windows tablets.
iPad Pro M4 + Magic Keyboard at $1,348 total is faster than a MacBook Air M3 on single-core Geekbench (~3,700 vs 3,070) but is not a laptop — iPadOS 18 still restricts background processes, pro apps are limited, and Stage Manager has quirks. You can't run Docker. You can't run Xcode natively. You can't run Python in a real terminal (Pythonista and Pyto are toys). If your workflow is writing, email, Office, browsing, design, art, video editing (LumaFusion / DaVinci for iPad), photography — iPad Pro M4 works. If you code, no.

Surface Pro 11 matches on multi-core and pulls ahead on Cinebench R24 MT because x86 software is better optimized for sustained multi-thread loads — but actual tablet apps (Procreate, Lightroom, LumaFusion) favor iPad's single-core and Metal GPU lead. Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra's Dimensity 9300+ is genuinely fast but throttles hard under sustained load — expect 30% performance loss after 15 minutes of Genshin Impact at max settings.
iPad Pro M4 uses two OLED panels stacked with a polarizer between them — doubles peak brightness without doubling power draw per pixel.
